Walk The Line

What's it all about? The rise to fame of country singer Johnny Cash and his struggle to deal with the consequences of success.
Starring? Reese Witherspoon , Joaquin Phoenix
Now I'm no fan of Johnny Cash , in fact I knew very little about this influential country star before I watched this film. As I sat to watch this film I tried to forget all my assumptions of country music and I am so pleased I did because what I thought could be a lifeless biopic about the life of a country singer I knew nothing about turned out to be an interesting tale of a singers struggle with drugs , romance and fame. Brilliantly pieced together , we see Cash go from rags to riches and back again . From his troubled childhood to his famous Folsom prison performance we are given an extremely realistic insight into his rise to fame. Both Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon give outstanding performances as June Carter and Johnny Cash , with Witherspoon deserving every inch of the Oscar she achieved for this role. Phoenix especially shines in his role as Johnny Cash , executing every detail of his character with perfection. A brilliantly made and acted film , regardless of whether country music interests you this film remains interesting. I’d recommend it to all especially Johnny Cash enthusiasts.
Verdict? 5 stars , A wonderfully crafted biopic exploring the highs and lows of fame
