127 Hours

What’s it all about? Based on the account of real life canyoneerer Aaron Ralston , who finds himself in 'Blue Johns Canyon'  with a boulder trapping his escape and an immense decision of survival.
Starring? James Franco , Clemence Poesy , Kate Mara , Lizzy Caplan
I admit  even me , with my love for both James Franco and Danny Boyle, was slightly sceptical about a nienty minute long film solely following a man trapped in a cave. However  all my suspicions were forgotten when I began watching this masterpiece. It's filmed tremendously , Boyle giving it an innovative and refreshing direction. He tackles a story which could easily become tiresomely depressive by using flash backs and images of thoughts to create an effective contrast between comedy and tragedy. He creates a film that is both intense and intimate , as an audience you feel almost empathy with Franco's character , and feel a sense of what he is going through. Franco gives an incredible performance as real life canyoneerer Aaron Ralston , it is strikingly realistic as we see his character experience a torrent of emotions. It is a truly wonderful story of humanity , behind the gore and tragic circumstance is an uplifting tale of the human will to survive against all odds. The films intimate cinematography and angles really give you no option but to delve completely into the story. It is emotionally intense and will make you laugh and cry , leaving you feeling like you were somehow part of the story itself. I couldn't recommended a film more , the best films are those that make us question ourselves and this is certainly a story that you will not leave behind at the screen.

Verdict?: 5 Stars, a truly legendary tale that you will never quite forget.
