The Greatest

What’s it about? When their young son Bennett tragically dies they suddenly meet Rose , the mother of their son's unborn child.  A story of coming to terms with loss and the struggles to cope with the death of a child.
Starring? Carey Mulligan , Aaron Johnson , Piers Morgan , Susan Sarandon  , Johny Simmons
With  a promising cast it was a surprise that i had never heard of this film until it popped up on my Sky Anytime. Mulligan and Sarandon redeem the film from utter disaster , making the melodramatic and predictable story line  bearable watching. There are parts of brilliance sadly proceeded by a hyperbole of depression and drama ; thus it does not suceed overall. However I did enjoy the film in parts , I appreciate that it does not succumb to Hollywood's charm and the ending was more realistic than cringe worthy. Its charming and sweet at points , but  without the acting it would be nothing but a car crash tale of grief , loss and people 'finding themselves' again.
Verdict?  3 Stars , over dramatic and unsure of itself yet somewhat charming.

Verdict? 3 Stars , a rather melodramatic and predictable story line but great acting and charming parts.
