It is wonderfully refreshing to watch a romance that is not actually that romantic , and is not so full of cheesy cleches that it may as well be shown on the Disney channel. For once a story that is more realistic than stereotypical , and at last spares us from that awkwardly cringe worthy Hollywood ending. It is not your conventional When Harry Met Sally love story , and instead explores the realities of love and romantic ideals. It is a lovable indie romance , made better by a great soundtrack and incredibly charming performance from Joseph Gorden Levitt. Mark Webb's direction make the film even more originally individual , allowing the audience to explore Tom's hopeless romantic thoughts and dreams. The script is lovingly adorable , providing an off beat perspective to romance. 500 Days of Summer is unknowingly stylish and irresistibly lovable , a new type of romance.
Verdict? 4 stars , lovably charming
