What’s it about? When young Maddy sets out to avenge her father's death she finds herself in a trio with a US Marshal and a Texas Ranger , all on a hunt for Tom Chaney ; the true question is which one of them has 'true grit'?

I admit I'm not the biggest Coen brothers fan , but the film surprisingly lived up to it's hype. Newcomer Steinfeld shines , her performance is an incredible achievement considering she was just 13 at the start of filming. It also showcases Jeff Bridges at his best - when playing a drunken , southern american Marshall. The film is consistently brilliant , with a story line that is not entirely anticipated for once. True Grit was almost glitch free with only one small continuity error. It's slightly violent , but overall realistic and entertaining. Once again the Coen brothers have succeeded and the film still maintains their usual charm and hint of comedy as well as having a slightly strange and abrupt ending.
Verdict? 4 stars , an epic tale of revenge that is not all it seems
